Stimulate Appetite

According to TCM, poor appetites can have a number of causes such as over- worrying and chronic fatigue, alcoholism, overeating before bedtime, heat in the liver or stagnation of liver qi and etc. Disharmony between the Liver and Spleen causes irritability along with abdominal distension and pain. Common symptoms such as constipation and diarrhea, stress, frustration, and anger aggravate condition and etc, which may lead to poor appetites. Hence, Efficient liver and spleen function is important for healthy digestion and stimulate appetites. Here are the suggested menu to aids digestion and stimulate appetite:
Internal Consumption: Barley Sprout Tea
Sweet Sour Pineapple Fish
Stimulate Appetite Recipes
1) Barley Sprout Tea
Ingredients : a) 20g Barley Sprouts () MaiYa
    b) 12g Tangerine Peels () ChenPi
    c) 4g Licorice Roots () GanCao
       
Seasoning : d) Some Rock Sugar () BingTang
       
Method : 1) Put barley sprouts, tangerine peels and licorice roots in and muslin bag and tighten up.
    2) In a pot; put in the bag with 1000cc of water and bring to the boil.
    3) Turn to low heat and cook for further 15 minutes then drain.

Benefits:
This drink improves digestion, helps stimulating appetite and coordinate the stomach and spleen functions.

Recommended:
Suitable for people who experience food accumulation, poor appetite, weak digestion, and fullness in the abdomen; stagnation of liver qi.

 
2) Sweet Sour Pineapple Fish
Ingredients : a) 20 pcs hawthorn berry () ShanZha
    b) 1 pcs licorice root () GanCao
    c) 300g mackerel () QingYu
    d) 1 slice pineapple () HuangLi
    e) 1/3 each yellow, red and green bell peppers () DengLongJiao
    f) 1 tbs crushed garlic () SuanMi
       
Marinates : a) 2 tbsp soy sauce () JiangYou
    b) 1 egg, whisk () Dan
       
Seasonings : a) 1 tsp cornstarch () Su Fen
    b) 1 tbsp sugar () Tang
    c) 3 tbsp ketchup () FanQieJiang
    d) 1 tbsp sesame oil () ZhiMaYou
       
Method : 1) Cook hawthorn berry, licorice root with 3 bowl of water for 10 minutes. Strain and set aside.
    2) Cut pineapple into small pieces.
    3) Cut mackerel into chunks. Marinate with soy sauce and egg for 20 minutes.
    4) Coat with constarch. Deep fry until golden brown and drain well. Set aside.
    5) Cut all the bell peppers into cubes. Blanch in boiling water, remove and set aside.
    6) Combine well all the seasoning with hawthorn licorice decoction (item 1).
    7) Heat up oil, stir fry garlic until fragrant. Place bell peppers and pineapple. Stir-fry briefly. Add in mixture (item 5) and bring to a boil. Add in mackerel and transfer to a plate and serve.
Benefits:
Stimulates appetite, promote digestion, replenish the strength, moisturize the skin.

Notes:
Not suitable for people who experience irregular secretion of gastric, not to be overeaten by children and elderly.
