Red dates are are smaller and red in color whereas Chinese dates are black in color. Both are from the same kind of fruit.
Red Date
Also known as Red Jujube. When the fruit are blanched slightly in boiling water, and dried under the sun, they are called red dates.
Chinese Date (Hei Zao)
Also known as Black Date. When the fruit are blanched in boiling water and baked until the skin become black and shinny, they are call Chinese dates.
Benefits: Calms the central nervous system, protects liver, improves strength of muscles, inhibits cancer cells, treating skin cancer, preventing reaction in blood transfusion, treating diarrhea.
