Latin Name: Panax quinquefolium L
(Pronounce in Mandarin Pinyin: Hua Qi Shen)
Hua Qi Shen refers to ginseng that is grown in America, the most well known being those from state of Wisconsin. The Chinese name of American Ginseng is "Xi Yang Shen"() or "Pao Shen"(). Like all ginseng, the wild variety is the best. China is currently the world's largest exporter of American ginseng. Also known as "Fen Guang Shen" ().
Nature: Cool
Channel of Meridians: Heart, Kidney and liver
Benefits: Tonifies Yin and Qi, Clears lung heat, good for chronic cough as it has a soothing effect on the lungs, generate fluids. Commonly used to treat weakness after recovery from long illness, dry throat and etc.
